TukaTuk

On a not even vaguely related to photography topic, can I recommend the blog of a friend of mine at www.tukatuk.com. It is about woodworking and toy making and the like and is very interesting. In case you are wondering where the name comes from, it is the noise his daughter makes while she pushes her toys around.

Dog Photographs, Grooming and a Charity Calendar

This year I will be running two joint promotions with my local Dog Groomers, Doggy Doos of Leixlip, Co. Kildare. They are the people who groom my dog Sam (see previous blog for how good looking he is).

Elaine Fitzpatrick, the proprietor, recently brought her two Golden retrievers in to our home studio for a shoot.

Kye is the male and is reputed to not be the sharpest tool in the box. The shot of him below will do nothing to dispute this rumour.

Kye is going to Cruft's this year and I will keep you up to date with his progress.

Sasha is the female and I didn't manage to get a really good shot of her as she came into heat at the start of the shoot and never really settled. She is due to be covered next week and I will be doing a shoot of her and her puppies later in the year. Meantime, here is a shot of her offering to shake.

Doggy Doos don't have a website yet but they are based in Leixlip and their telephone number is 01-6060011. Give Elaine a ring and she will make your dog look nearly as handsome as my Sam!

For the month of February Doggy Doos customers will be eligible for a free photo shoot from Liffey Photography and a complimentary 9" x 6" unframed print.

As a joint venture between Liffey Photography and Doggy Doos, we will be issuing a charity calendar for 2012 which will feature 10 dogs chosen from our respective clientele over the year. Pricing is still to be determined but it will likely be in benefit of the Irish Dogs for Disabled (http://www.dogsfordisabled.ie).  Their 2011 Calendar (with which we were not involved) is available now from their website.

So if you want your dogs to be famous and benefit a worthy charity, take them to Doggy Doos to be groomed and then have their photographs taken by me at Liffey Photography. You can come to us, we can come to you or we can all go out to a favourite park and take pictures there.

Greetings

This blog is primarily intended to promote my South County Dublin photography business (http://liffeyphotography.com) but I am hoping that it will be interesting enough that readers will keep coming back.

Initial topics will include the importance of backing up and tips for printing your photographs. If there is a photography related topic that you are interested in, let me know and I will try to post something interesting and informative about it. I am not promising that either objective will be met but I will try.

I will also use the blog to detail any interesting projects we undertake as well as advertising any special offers Liffey Photography are offering.

Sam the Basset Hound

This is Sam, my Basset Hound and reluctant model. He will be a regular star of this blog because, as you can see, he has star quality.
